It really is that simple. Why go through all the hard work of taking risks and changing things up to keep it fresh and alive when you can just sit on your ass and coast your way to demise.
Over the last week I have heard about several businesses closing. People believe that it is because of higher gas prices or a declining economy but it isn’t. It simply is because businesses that play it safe and don’t reinvest new energy into new ideas die. Point blank.
These businesses going under are stale and brittle. From time to time the Economy has to prune the week limbs out of a tree. Ice storms work in the same way, they are very beneficial for forests by clearing the weak limbs, leaving the tree healthier and ready for new growth.
If you offer a good product that makes people feel FANTASTIC, sweat over small details, push things to the edge, constantly evaluate how you can give something great to others at a good price, help others do what you do, don’t listen to the majority of people who think you are crazy and have fun, then you can survive no matter what the economy appears to be doing.
Stay fresh and have fun.
Anyone going to the Seed Conference?
http://www.seedconference.com/
I would love to go to this. 6 Allstar speakers that are very progressive in what they do. This is an amazing chance for anyone that likes progressive thinking and big ideas.
Lets do this thing!
You can never get enough thank yous. I don’t care who you are. I’m talking about a genuine TY that warms someones heart. A TY that comes from left field that catches people off guard and it takes a while for it to sink into their brain as they walk away from you. A TY you that makes a person do a double elbow pump when no one is looking. Those are the TYs that last.
This week we are sending out TYs to artist that we admire such as Josh Cochran, P. Dully, Apak, Lab Partners, the list could go on and on but we do it in traditional P. Fortress style via a beautifuly hand done post card. A simple heart felt think to the people that we are just glad that they do what they do.
Today, go out and give away as many TYs as possible. Sincere TYs for great things done by great people. Check out this wonderful TY from a very passionate person, Gary V.
An amazing lecture from the great Randy Pausch. This is why we should do what we love everyday, no matter the risk because the risk of not doing what we love is much greater. Live your dreams my friend.
Update: I see that Randy has a book coming out. This is a must on the inspiration list. The Last Lecture

A large howdy ho thank you thank you - goes out to actionM for all of his hard work at the Fort over the last two days.
For those that don’t know actionM yet, he is a bat cave coder. Place him in his den of darkness and he can whip out some mean code that entwines it’s little binary arms around my images.
Here at the fort we have decided to go global and offer our goody goodness to the world. Some hot new orginals have hit the store.

You have to admit, it is hard to beat nice illustrations placed upon some beautiful wood grain.
